Have you considered selling CDs of the music you play on this site. I have googled the names of the artists and can’t find their music anywhere but here. I would be the first to by a CD if you made it and it would be a great fundraiser.

@joypeters,
We have considered offering the music and we are trying to find a good way to do that. Thank you for the suggestion because we love the music as well
Thanks for this wonderful site…Just a question: How often are the corresponding podcasts updated on iTunes? I like to download these as I can use them “on the go.”
dane Reply: October 16th, 2008 at 7:37 am
@unclebob, we put each out to iTunes 5 or 6 days before needed. This should allow you to synch your iPod once every 5 days. We usually don’t have anything for the weekends.
dane Reply: October 18th, 2008 at 10:51 am
@unclebob, you did detect an error with our feed. Thank you for reporting it. I am working with our programmer to resolve it. Again, thank you for letting us know.
Please ignore the dates on the posts. That is when I created them and it not the date that they correspond with. On this web site you will always see the prayer on the front page is today’s prayer.
@DvdVred, good question! Would you mind trying something for me? See if you can change your password easily by going to http://DivineOffice.org/wp-admin .
This is the administrative interface and I believe all users have access to it. You should see a place to change your profile.
I would appreciate it if you would let me know if that worked so that I can make a more intuitive method.
I am new to site-I am unable to find the outline mentioned at the beginning of the podcast-can’t find dates-can anyone help direct me to the outlines.
thanks
@monicaschneiderman, starting in Advent (Dec 2) we will have the Invitatory Psalms and the Office of Readings. We are planning on adding Evening Prayer during or shortly after the Christmas season.
@tmmurphy2008, if you have suggestions on how to make this more intuitive then please let us know, but the outline for the current day is on the front page where each of today’s prayers are displayed. It changes automatically to match the current date. If you are not seeing this let me know.
What were you expecting? Is there something we can do to make it better for you?
tmmurphy2008 Reply: October 30th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
@Dane, I think it is more me than the site; if I had avoided itunes I would not have gotten confused; I see now that the date is included which helps and I also see that the date on itunes is the release date-so thanks for replying; the dates you’ve added will hopefully help others that are new; I don’t have an ipod but if you could also add date to title that appears in the istore listing it might be helpful.
thanks again.
I noticed that the only items on the iTunes feed are the Invitatories and the “about St. Charles Borromeo” snippet. Is that by design? Is something missing? Or maybe the “cache” of previous episodes is too small?
@bullschuck, thank you for bringing this to my attention. We are adding lots of content and building added functionality to this site so we often don’t notice issues until someone points them out to us. Your guess at the problem was very close. We added the invitatory psalms to our feed and it created a kind of queueing problem. This is now fixed. Thanks again!
Hello,
I am a little confused, although today is Tuesday of the 32nd week, according to the General Roman Calendar it is also the Memorial of St Martin of Tours, Bishop. In this case antiphons, reading, responsory and prayer are specific and psalms and canticle are taken from Sunday of week one. At least this is the way I understand it, am I wrong?
God Bless,
Thank you for a great website. I have been interested in the Divine Office for some time and I actually have the books to support my interest but not the knowledge to use the books efficiently - you site will guide me in my learning.
Are you using the 4 volume set or the Shorter Christian Prayer? I use the 4 volume set, which is slightly different. If you use shorter Christian Prayer, could you recommend a podcast that uses the 4 volume set? Thanks.
@stdymphna, we use the 4 volume set. Occasionally we find that the 4 volume set has shorter readings for Morning Prayer then the one volume and when that happens we will often take just the reading from the single volume. Also note that there are more then one single volume version. We use a single volume called Christian Prayer and we use another single volume called Office of Readings. But, we always use the 4 volume as 95% of our content and 100% of our format so please stay with us and pray with us.

@Dane, thank you for a quick response. This is the set I use: http://www.amazon.com/Liturgy-Hours-Complete-Set/dp/0899424112/ref=ed_oe_o. When I went to subscribe to your podcast, I noticed that what my pages were marked were not the same as yours. (I’m using the St. Joseph’s Guide.) Am I missing something?
I would like make a site very similar: The Liturgy of the hours, text+mp3 everyday. (In hungarian end english (end spain, italian, latin).)
I don’t want to record the pray everyday, but generate the pray from the parts recorded.

Wow, Really Incredible! Great job, guys! Please, keep it up!
The only suggestion I might have is a way of making the MP3s for the upcoming days available directly off the site. If I don’t use a feed reader or Itunes (I’m something of a luddite, but I’m learning), currently I could only download the MP3s for the current day.
Fantastic job, though! I would get a paid subscription to this in a heartbeat, especially if you were to add Evening and perhaps even Daytime Prayers in the future.
I’ve tried to get into the Divine Office before but have found it difficult. Your project excites me!
I realize I should clarify a bit as to my suggestion. I can get MP3s for the next week, but not for tomorrow using the menu at the upper left of the screen.
I am confued, I use my PC to participar in the Office and often (as this morning) all that comes up is the Invitatory. Neither readings or Morning Prayer are even listed on the left menu. What am I doing wrong?
@sgmarsha, sorry for the confusion. We have not completed all the prayers for weekends, solemnities, and memorials. We are working deligently to get a complete set of prayers for everyday, but we had to select weekends as our lowest priority with the expectation that people would attend mass and not miss our prayers on Sundays as much.
Dane,
Thank you for your comments on The Anchoress. I read her: Stargazing with Merton and Rambling Along…, which led to reading: To sit by an open window… I’m hooked, too.
I do enjoy the Office of Readings. I am not a great fan of backing tracks and there have been two recent occasions where the music is so loud it is hard to hear some of the words which is a pity because the readers are so good. The Office of Readings for today (Tuesday of Advent Week 4) is one such. Could the volume of the music be kept proportionate please? I say the Offices on my own so I do appreciate what you provide and look forward to a full set!!
I might suggest y’all add a Paypal Donation button to your site, and use the proceeds to either help offset your cost or reward your excellent volunteers.
Greetings and thank you for this wonderful service.
I cannot locate the morning prayer for Monday, December 29. I live in Tokyo, and we’re half a day ahead of the US. Usually there isn’t a problem getting files in time; they are available well ahead of the day. However, I wonder if there is something wrong with the feed.
@wsponzani, thank you for checking in on us. I am very sorry for the delay, but a service we use has notified us that they are going out of business so we had to do a quick gathering of all of our audio files. I hope to be back in normal operation in a few hours. Once the migration is complete we will be using all of our own technology and services so we wont be reliant on others. This is a great thing, but we are sorry it happened out of the blue. Stay tuned we have lots more on the way.
Just wanted to add my voice to that of the other devoted and faithful to DivineOffice.org and thank you all so very much for all of your hard work to make this site a success. I am spreading the word and am sure that in God’s grace, this site will grow and expand for His glory. Thank you again, and may God Bless You all in this New Year!!
@GRCFL1, I can’t tell you how much messages like this mean to us. This work takes me personally over 8 hours per day and I have a full-time day job also. Soon I will have all of the parts produced and assembled. Then we will record the next set of prayers such as Night Prayer. It really is a lot of work and we are so grateful that people like you are praying with us and helping to spread the word. Please have patience while we get through the Christmas season. Our personal schedules have not allowed us all the time we need to record and produce all the prayers. You will see a significant improvement as we enter Ordinary Time. Thanks again!

Keep up this GREAT work of God! As far as I can tell, there is nothing like it at present on the web.
BTW — As of this AM (12-16) I cannot get the iPod feed for MP for the 17th to fetch — perhaps there is a feed issue?
Also, iTunes lists no feeds for MP for either the 18th, 19th or 20th (at least so far)…just thought you’d like to know…
Thanks again, Dane, to you and your ‘crew’ who faithfully meet/record these for us. I know it is a labor of love…
