- Lord, make haste to help me.

1. O Christ, who art the Light and Day,
Thou drivest night and gloom away;
O Light of light, whose Word doth show
The light of heaven to us below.

2. All-holy Lord, in humble prayer,
We ask tonight Thy watchful care.
Oh, grant us calm repose in Thee,
A quiet night, from perils free.

3. Our sleep be pure from sinful stain;
Let not the Tempter vantage gain,

and bless the Lord through the night.

3 May the Lord bless you from Zion,
he who made both heaven and earth.

Reading: Deuteronomy 6:4-7

Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone! Therefore, you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength.
