Morning Prayer for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

God, come to my assistance.
Lord, make haste to help me.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia.

God of mercy God of grace
Hear our sad, repentant songs.
O restore Thy suppliant race,
Thou to whom our praise belongs!

Deep regret for follies past,
Talents wasted, time misspent;
Hearts debased by worldly cares,
Thankless for the blessings lent:

Foolish fears and fond desires,
Vain regrets for things as vain:
Lips too seldom taught to praise,
Oft to murmur and complain;

These, and every secret fault,
Filled with grief and shame, we own.
Humbled at Thy feet we lie,
Seeking pardon from Thy throne.

Ant. 1 Jesus stood and cried out: If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.

Psalm 63:2-9
A soul thirsting for God

Whoever has left the darkness of sin yearns for God.

O God, you are my God, for you I long;
for you my soul is thirsting.
My body pines for you
like a dry, weary land without water.
So I gaze on you in the sanctuary
to see your strength and your glory.

For your love is better than life,
my lips will speak your praise.
So I will bless you all my life,
in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul shall be filled as with a banquet,
my mouth shall praise you with joy.

On my bed I remember you.
On you I muse through the night
for you have been my help;
in the shadow of your wings I rejoice.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand holds me fast.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. Jesus stood and cried out: If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.

Ant. 2 Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.

Canticle – Daniel 3:57-88, 56
Let all creatures praise the Lord

All you servants of the Lord, sing praise to him (Revelation 19:5).

Bless the Lord, all you works of the Lord.
Praise and exalt him above all forever.
Angels of the Lord, bless the Lord.
You heavens, bless the Lord,
All you waters above the heavens, bless the Lord.
All you hosts of the Lord, bless the Lord.
Sun and moon, bless the Lord.
Stars of heaven, bless the Lord.

Every shower and dew, bless the Lord.
All you winds, bless the Lord.
Fire and heat, bless the Lord.
Cold and chill, bless the Lord.
Dew and rain, bless the Lord.
Frost and chill, bless the Lord.
Ice and snow, bless the Lord.
Nights and days, bless the Lord.
Light and darkness, bless the Lord.
Lightnings and clouds, bless the Lord.

Let the earth bless the Lord.
Praise and exalt him above all forever.
Mountains and hills, bless the Lord.
Everything growing from the earth, bless the Lord.
You springs, bless the Lord.
Seas and rivers, bless the Lord.
You dolphins and all water creatures, bless the Lord.
All you birds of the air, bless the Lord.
All you beasts, wild and tame, bless the Lord.
You sons of men, bless the Lord.

O Israel, bless the Lord.
Praise and exalt him above all forever.
Priests of the Lord, bless the Lord.
Servants of the Lord, bless the Lord.
Spirits and souls of the just, bless the Lord.
Holy men of humble heart, bless the Lord.
Hananiah, Azariah, Mishael, bless the Lord.
Praise and exalt him above all forever.

Let us bless the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Let us praise and exalt him above all for ever.
Blessed are you, Lord, in the firmament of heaven.
Praiseworthy and glorious and exalted above all for ever.

Ant. Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.

Ant. 3 My son, give me your heart; note carefully the way I point out to you.

Psalm 149
The joy of God’s holy people.

Let the sons of the Church, the children of the new people, rejoice in Christ, their King (Hesychius).

Sing a new song to the Lord,
his praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel rejoice in its maker,
let Zion’s sons exult in their king.
Let them praise his name with dancing
and make music with timbrel and harp.

For the Lord takes delight in his people.
He crowns the poor with salvation.
Let the faithful rejoice in their glory,
shout for joy and take their rest.
Let the praise of God be on their lips
and a two-edged sword in their hand,

to deal out vengeance to the nations
and punishment on all the peoples;
to bind their kings in chains
and their nobles in fetters of iron;
to carry out the sentence pre-ordained;
this honor is for all his faithful.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. My son, give me your heart; note carefully the way I point out to you.

READING Jeremiah 31:33

This is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord. I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Sacred Silence (indicated by a bell) – a moment to reflect and receive in our hearts the full resonance of the voice of the Holy Spirit and to unite our personal prayer more closely with the word of God and public voice of the Church.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.

For I am gentle and humble of heart.
Learn from me.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.

Ant. With tender compassion, our God has come to his people and set them free.

Luke 1:68 – 79
The Messiah and his forerunner

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.

Through his holy prophets he promised of old
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.

This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight all the days of our life.

You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
to give his people knowledge of salvation
by the forgiveness of their sins.

In the tender compassion of our God
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. With tender compassion, our God has come to his people and set them free.

Brethren, let us pray to the Lord Jesus, who is meek and humble of heart. Let us ask him:
Most loving Lord, have mercy on us.

Jesus, the fullness of divinity dwells in you,
give us a share in your divine life.
Most loving Lord, have mercy on us.

Jesus, in you are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge,
make known to us through your Church the manifold wisdom of God.
Most loving Lord, have mercy on us.

Jesus, the Father was well pleased in you,
help us to hear your word and keep it.
Most loving Lord, have mercy on us.

Jesus, of your fullness we have all received,
pour out upon us in abundance the Father’s favor and truth.
Most loving Lord, have mercy on us.

Jesus, you are the source of life and holiness,
make us holy and blameless in love.
Most loving Lord, have mercy on us.

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Concluding Prayer

Grant, we pray,
almighty God, that we,
who glory in the Heart of your beloved Son
and recall the wonders of his love for us,
may be made worthy to receive
an overflowing measure of grace
from that fount of heavenly gifts.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

May the Lord bless us,
protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life.

  1. O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we desire to Love You and make You Loved,
To work for the glory of the Holy Church
By saving souls on earth and by liberating those suffering in purgatory.
We desire to accomplish Your will perfectly
And to reach the degree of glory that You have prepared for us in Your Kingdom.
We desire, in a word, to be Holy, but we feel our powerlessness
And we beg you, O God! to be Yourself our Holiness!

The infinite treasures of Your merits are ours.
We offer them to You God, with gladness.
Look on us through the Face of Jesus and in His Heart burning with Love.

We offer You, too, all the merits of the saints in Heaven and on earth,
Their acts of Love, and those of the Holy Angels.

Finally, we offer You, O Blessed Trinity!
The Love and merits of the Blessed Virgin, our cherished Mother.
To her, we entrust our offering completely, imploring her to present it to You.
Her Divine Son, our Beloved Spouse, during His earthly life declared:
“Whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give to you!”
We are certain, therefore, that You will grant our desires; we know it, O God!
The more You want to give, the more You make us desire.
Fill our hearts with the immense desire to love You without measure,
With confidence we ask you to come and take possession of our souls.

We want to console You for the ingratitude of the wicked, and
we beg You to take our freedom to displease You away.
If through weakness we sometimes fall,
May Your Divine Glance cleanse our souls immediately,
Consuming all our imperfections like fire that transforms everything into itself.

We thank You, O God! for all the graces that You have granted us,
Especially the grace of making us pass through the crucible of suffering.
With joy we shall contemplate You on the Last Day
Carrying the scepter of Your Cross.
Since You have chosen to give us a share in this very precious Cross,
We hope in heaven to resemble You
and to see shining in our glorified bodies the sacred stigmata of Your Passion.

After earth’s Exile, we hope to go and enjoy You in the Fatherland,
But we do not want to lay up merits for heaven.
We want to work for Your Love Alone with the one purpose of pleasing You:
To console Your Sacred Heart, and to save souls who will love You forever.

In the evening of this life, we shall appear before You with empty hands.
Lord, we do not ask You to count our works.
All our justice is stained in Your eyes.
We wish, then, to be clothed in Your own Justice
And by Your Love to receive You as our eternal possession.
No other Throne, no other Crown do we want but You, our Beloved!

Time is nothing in Your eyes, and a single day is like a thousand years.
You can, then, in an instant prepare us to appear before You.

Finally, in order to live in an act of perfect Love,
We offer ourselves as victims of holocaust to Your Merciful Love.
We beg You to consume us incessantly.
Allow the waves of infinite tenderness shut up within You to overflow into our souls.
In this way, make us become Martyrs of Your Love, O God!

In the end, after it has prepared us to appear before You, may this martyrdom make us die.
May our souls take its flight without delay
Into the eternal embrace of your Merciful Love.

We want, O our Beloved, with each beat of our hearts
to renew this offering to You an infinite number of times,
until the shadows are no more, and
We are able tell You of our Love in an Eternal Face to Face!

    – in paraphrase of St. Therese’s Act of Oblation to Merciful Love

  2. O Lord God I know only God by Your grace, Your strength, & Your love ❤️ can true forgiveness & reconciliation happen. Bless me & plant in my heart to forgive & lead me on with patience & perseverance in my whole life. I pray this inthe name of Jesus’ through Mary with all the angels & saints. Amen

  3. I love you, O Lord and my God, my rock, my fortress, my shelter and my deliverer. Come be with your church. Guide her, protect her and increase her that all peoples from all corners of the world will come and drink of your love for mankind. May your Sacred Heart guide each of us this and every day.

  4. Global Rosary Relay for Priests Today, Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus:

Lord Jesus, You have chosen Your priests among us
and have sent them to proclaim Your Word and to act in Your Name.

For such a great gift to Your Church, we praise You and we thank You.

We ask that You fill them with the fire of Your love,
that their ministry may reveal Your presence in the Church.
Since they are earthen vessels, we pray
that Your power may work in their weakness.
    In their afflictions do not let them be crushed;
    in their doubts, do not let them despair;
in temptation, do not let them be destroyed.
Inspire them through prayer to live each day
the mystery of Your death and Resurrection.
In times of weakness, send them Your Spirit
and help them to praise Your heavenly Father and to pray for poor sinners.
With the same Holy Spirit place Your word on their lips and your love in their hearts,
that they may bring the Good News to the poor and revive the broken-hearted.
Lastly, may the gift of Mary, your mother,
to the disciple whom You loved, be Your gift to every priest.
Grant that she, who formed You in your human image,
may form each priest in Your divine image,
through the power of Your Spirit, to the glory of God the Father.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.

Joseph, with Mary, you raised Jesus the High Priest.
You know our need for priests.
Please raise up good and holy priests from our families to
serve the people of our diocese.
May our children and grandchildren hear and say “yes” to
the call of Jesus, just as you and Mary did.

All for You, O Jesus, all for You in a most special way today, all prayers and works and joys and sufferings for the intentions of Your Sacred Heart. We believe, we adore, we trust, and we love You. We ask pardon for those who do not.

  5. Most Sacred heart of Jesus, may we celebrate your feast day in our minds, in our spirit and in our hearts…today and always. Help us as we trust in your divine providence. Amen

  6. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I entrust to you my family, especially my father who is unable to walk on his own anymore. Thank you for the graces you have showered upon him, as your faithful devotee; Your graces overflow to our family. When the time comes, please receive him into Your merciful, forgiving and loving heart and on our part please keep us in your healing heart. Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of a Jesus, have mercy on us.

  7. Most Sacred Heart of JESUS, Please help control the people of our country so that peace and love might prevail.
Help them to keep GOD in their hearts May our people show love and kindness to each other again.
May the people hold GOD in their hearts again.

  8. My Jesus, my Endless Love, enlighten the path you have chosen for me. Keep me faithful and enclose me in your Most Scared Heart that I may serve only you. May I offer all to you and may you use this broken and weak vessel to bring your blazing and burning love to others. Jesus, I love you!

  9. O Lord God thank you for every good things you have provided us. May you always guide & bless us all. Most. Sacred Heart of Jesus pray for us all. In you I put my trust in you. Amen.

  10. The Love of The Divine Heart of Jesus pours out it’s Infinite Mercy unto us, the beholders; let us not forsake This Love, but let it permeate to the depths of our hearts. Let us be continually drawn back to His Loving Heart; Let us not falter by going astray. Let us forever Hear His Call and Trust in Him and shine forth His Love to others.
