Pray anywhere
I have prayed the Divine Office for many years. [...] When I discovered this app, all of my concerns of ribbon placement were gone. Having the Divine Office on my phone is absolutely the best thing ever! The sense of community is so wonderful as I see how many others are praying at the same time as myself. [...] Now I don’t need to turn a lamp on as I use to when I used the Office printed volumes. It is such a blessing to have the Divine Office in my pocket. Many times I’ve been sitting in a doctor’s waiting room at the time of Mid Morning prayer. It is so calming of any worries to pull out my phone, open the app, and be able to connect with Our Lord at those times I need Him most. I don’t use the audio version much but the few times I’ve traveled, it is so comforting to not have to skip the Office in order to keep my hands on the steering wheel and my eyes in the road. I recommend this app to friends all the time, especially to those who’d like to pray the Office but feel intimidated by the size of the printed version and getting the ribbons placed properly. Thank you for developing this app. It is my constant companion.

Super helpful
I have only been introduced to the divine office prayers two times before I downloaded this app. It is laid out in a way that is very easy to understand, and there is an audio option that will say all of the prayers. There is an option to set reminders throughout the day. I got this because, I didn’t really know how to say the divine office, and I didn’t know what prayer books I needed to purchase to begin. During the shutting down of churches for covid :( this has been a wonderful resource. One cool feature is that you can tap on the “in prayer” link and see little specks of light around the globe lighting up in the area that someone else is praying. It’s so cool to see everyone praying with you and is a powerful reminder that we are all connected and unified in Christ’s mystical body.

Praying with the whole Church
I love this app! Since it is now free and no longer for sale, I made sure to donate the price of buying it, and then some. I have loved the Liturgy of the Hours for 25 years. But I always felt alone when I prayed it. With this app, I am connected to others! I use it in conjunction with my printed Christian Prayer volume. On other days, I cannot get to my book but with the app, I always have the prayers available. I have the printed calendar with my book, but I actually rely on this more for placing my ribbons. The audio is wonderful!! I often read out loud with it. I love that I can change the speed of the audio! I have found that 1.3 is good for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this app. Thank you for still supporting it. Thank you for updating the “one God,” to just “God” change in the prayers. My book still throws me off but your app is right! Highly recommend this. Many friends have it. THANK YOU!!

I will pray for you dear one. God has a purpose for your life. He loves you and He proved that my sending us His son. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. And go to heaven when you die with our Lord and other believers. There is good in the world and good people. Please turn out the world and spend quiet time with Jesus. Preferably in front of the blesses sacrament. Attend mass, go to confession and partake of communion. That’s a recipe for joy and not to despair. God bless you . I will pray for you. Take good care of yourself for the Lord. Amen
I hear you Andrea and my heart goes out to you. I see a part of you in me. I found a way out of myself when I realized that the people I was condemning were the same as myself. I thought that I was apart from them apart from everyone. That I was alone, I was unworthy of love, and so was everyone else. So l divorced myself from the rest of the world. I did nothing but blame and shame them. When I finally realized I was no better.I still do this and yet I work hard to forgive. I found it so difficult to forgive the people I felt traumatized me. I had such a hard time forgiving them until I went to a priest who gave me some insight. He said remember the words Jesus said when he was on the cross. He could have hated them and blame them, but He didn’t. He said Father forgive them for they know not what they do. I gave my hate for them to God. Low and behold the cross of resentment that I was carrying was lifted. I was able to let go and forgive. I’m not any better than anyone else. Even my enemies.
I have been in that same place. I found comfort and trust when I recognized that my expectations were wrong. I keep forgetting that the devil is going to do all he can to blind me to the presence of the Kingdom in this world. He wants us to think that the darkness we see around us is all there is; this is his battle strategy One saint said “The surprise is not that there is so much evil in this world, but that there is so much good”. Pray for the grace of Edith Stein and Maximilian Kolbe who saw God’s presence even in the growth up to Hitler’s power and the concentration camp. Ask them for their courage, and the gift of seeing the rose growing among the ashes.
Matthew Chap 51 When Jesus[a] saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. 2 Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.5 “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11 “Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely[b] on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.Salt and Light13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot.14 “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. 15 No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. The Law and the Prophets17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter,[c] not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. 19 Therefore, whoever breaks[d] one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Andrea, Perhaps this video will help you. Corrie witnessed and was subjected to great evil. Wishing you the peace of Christ. https://youtu.be/DhWaNUQbAkc?si=BPcvZsfo0Fq85I-S
You say you are far away from God/faith, but you are much closer than you think. You proclaim your unworthiness before him. This is true humility. What did Jesus say about the tax collector who would not even raise his eyes, but stood off at a distance beating his chest and begging for God’s mercy, Vs the Pharisee who approached God with pride in his heart? The tax collector went away justified. As Christians, we are called to approach God in humility, and thus reside in the place of his mercy and blessing. I see you in this place. The evils in the world are overwhelming and far too much for us. This is why we proclaim Christ crucified. He has already taken this burden on and defeated it! Look at Jesus on the cross as see just how God judges you. He has decided that this is what you deserve for your sins. If you were the only one who ever existed, and your sins were the only sins that ever existed, he would still have done it in a heartbeat. Keep going forward. God does not go back on his promises. He is calling you.
I am sorry you have lost so much faith in the world. The main thing is to keep trying and to not lose hope. What might be helpful to you is meditating on a picture of Jesus Christ. Sit and gaze on his loveliness and his love for you will shine forth. Don’t give us. You can make your way in this world which has distorted God’s plan for it. His plan is still in place. Good wins over evil even though it doesn’t seem like it. Repeat from your heart, “Jesus I trust in you.”
God bless you, Andrea for your sharing. God hears you, He loves you! I know from my own experience how hard it is when we don’t understand what is happening to the world around us, but never lose hope. Offer up your sufferings to Him and let the Holy Spirit console you. There will be many of us who will keep you in prayer today, and I will add you to my own prayer list.
Bless you, child of God! Thank you for sharing. Stay strong. Satan wants us to lose hope and faith. Keep the Faith regardless of all the mess around us. As you know, God is with us regardless of the evils surrounding us. It seems Satan has clothed the world in darkness, but your love and light penetrate this darkness, creating a fracture in the darkness. Myself and others need your light. May the love and peace of Christ embrace you today and always.
Andrea, my heart goes out to you.Prayer, Mass attendance and conversations with a priest are fine, but inadequate. Read, read and read some more. Church history, doctrinal works, moral teaching, spiritual writings. Skip the contemporary stuff. Commune with the Patristic authors. Their theology and spirituality aren’t adulterated from centuries of heresy. The Roman Martyrology. God gave us free will and the beauty of creation, but he didn’t make us for this world. Your suffering is actually a sign that you reject the wickedness of this world. Moderation, humility and asceticism convert painful suffering into joyful suffering in union with Christ. You are not far from the Kingdom of God.
Your honesty is a great start. Now ask HIM specifically for the answers to your questions. HE will provide, I know because HE has so for me. They will not come all at once immediately, but they will come.
Thank you so much for pouring out your heart. When I was amid similar feelings of helplessness in the face of overwhelming need, I began working with the homeless people in my community. I began cooking meals for them. This made an enormous difference; I knew there was little I could do on a grand scale, but I also knew there were people nearby whose suffering I could relieve. I also committed myself to give much more financial support to refugees (via UNHCR). This meant that I began to reduce my cost of living, simplify my life to the basics and give away what I was spending on trifles. My goal is to donate 50% of my income to others. Make yourself a holy vessel and let God fill it. Pray without ceasing. My prayers are with you–RPV
