In Loving Memory of Pope Francis: A Time of Prayer and Reflection

As the Church mourns the passing of Pope Francis, we unite in prayer and remembrance, honoring his profound legacy of humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel.

Funeral Mass on April 26

The funeral Mass for Pope Francis will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM, on the parvis of St. Peter’s Basilica. Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals, will preside over the liturgy, following the rites outlined in the Ordo Exsequiarum Romani Pontificis. The ceremony will conclude with the Ultima commendatio and the Valedictio [1].

Rosary at Santa Maria Maggiore

In the days leading up to the funeral, the faithful have gathered at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore to pray the Rosary in memory of Pope Francis. Cardinal Pietro Parolin led the second Rosary since the Pope’s passing, invoking the intercession of Mary, Salus Populi Romani, to whom Pope Francis had a deep devotion [2].

First General Congregation of Cardinals

On April 22, the College of Cardinals convened for the first General Congregation in the Synod Hall. Approximately sixty cardinals participated, beginning with a moment of prayer for the late Pontiff. They took an oath to uphold the Apostolic Constitution Universi Dominici Gregis, which governs the procedures during the sede vacante and the election of a new Pope [3].

Join Us in Prayer

We invite you to join the Novena for Pope Francis on DivineOffice.org, uniting our hearts in prayer and gratitude for his life and ministry. May our collective prayers bring comfort and hope to the Church during this time of transition.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
