This is the Liturgy of the Hours for November 26. Your local date is .
Dear community,
On this day special day of thankfulness and coming together, let us pray:
Lord,
we thank you
for the goodness of our people
and for the spirit of justice
that fills this nation.
We thank you for the beauty and fullness of the
land and the challenge of the cities.
We thank you for our work and our rest,
for one another, and for our homes.
We thank you, Lord:
accept our thanksgiving on this day.
We pray and give thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.[1]
Imbued with the thanksgiving spirit, let us remember that Advent is near and a wonderful time to reflect on our Lord’s “comings” by opening our hearts, waiting in joyful hope, and signing the great refrain, “O Come, O Come Emmanuel.” The hymn, of course, comes to us from the “O” Antiphons of the Gospel Canticle of Evening Prayer of Late Advent (December 17 through 24). Let us add solemnity to our Advent journey by keeping this Octave, this true novena, as a recommitment to the fullness of praying the Divine Office.
With gratitude and great joy,
The Divine Office Team
