Morning Prayer for Tuesday of the 4th Week of Lent
God, come to my assistance.
— Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
— as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Eternal Maker of the light,
True Light itself, surpassing day,

Avowal of a good ruler

Psalm-prayer
So that your people may walk in innocence, you came to us, Lord Jesus, and told us to be holy as your Father is holy. Help your children to love what is truly perfect, so that we may neither speak what is evil nor do what is wrong. Let us stand in your sight and celebrate with you the Father’s love and justice.

With your whole hearts turn to God and he will blot out all your sins (Acts 3:19).

Prayer for victory and peace
I can do all things in him who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).
Blessed be the Lord, my rock,

He brings peoples under my rule.
Lord, what is man that you care for him,

Psalm-prayer
Lord God of strength, you gave your Son victory over death. Direct your Church’s fight against evil in the world. Clothe us with the weapons of light and unite us under the one banner of love, that we may receive our eternal reward after the battle of earthly life.

Luke 1:68 – 79
The Messiah and his forerunner
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior,
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
to give his people knowledge of salvation
by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

INTERCESSIONS
God the Father has given us his only Son, the Word made man, to be our food and our life. Let us thank him and pray:
May the word of Christ dwell among us in all its richness.
Help us in this lenten season to listen more frequently to your word,
— that we may celebrate the solemnity of Easter with greater love for Christ, our paschal sacrifice.
May the word of Christ dwell among us in all its richness.
May your Holy Spirit be our teacher,
— that we may encourage those in doubt and error to follow what is true and good.

Enable us to enter more deeply into the mystery of your Anointed One,
