Memorial
St. Stanislaus is the patron saint of Poland. The son of noble parents, he was well-educated and became the bishop of Kraków in 1072. He donated much of his inheritance to the poor and sought to reform the diocese’s moral character. His programs incited the wrath of King Boleslav II, whom Stanislaus eventually excommunicated. The king retaliated by killing Stanislaus with his own hand. St. Stanislaus was canonized in 1253 by Innocent IV. [1][2][3]
