Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We are happy to announce new features and improvements coming to DivineOffice.org. It’s our hope it will make your prayer experience more meaningful and inspiring and that it will strengthen your sense of belonging to our community. Here’s a look at what’s new with details:
Table of Contents
- Have Your Own Prayer Light – Share Location
- New Download Button in the Player
- A Redesigned Mobile Experience
- A Redesigned Profile Section
Have Your Own Prayer Light – Share Location
Part of our mission is to build, grow and protect a true community in prayer. With that in mind we ask for your permission to use your location explaining why we need the information. We display locations on the 3D globe to show where others are praying with you in the world at any given time.
So, when you choose to share your location, Your Prayer Light will appear on the globe as a glowing candle—just like the votive candles in church. This candle represents your presence in our prayer community. Find out about the meaning of Your Prayer Light here.
Rest assured, to protect your privacy, these locations are stored for a few hours and are never linked to any user data, ensuring that no one can trace or identify where a member is based on the data. You have the option to delay or dismiss location sharing entirely, and we won’t ask again until you decide otherwise. Of course, you can pray and be part of this community without sharing your location.
New Download Button in the Player

We’ve simplified the way you access our audio prayers. Now, you’ll find a convenient download button directly in the player, replacing the old text link. This change makes it easier to download any of our prayers for offline listening, helping you stay connected to prayer no matter where you are.
A Redesigned Mobile Experience
We’ve made major updates to improve the mobile version of Divine Office, giving you a more intuitive and engaging experience:
New Home Page with 3D Globe interaction: Now you can interact with our globe directly from the home page, seeing how Your Prayer Light connects with thousands of others around the world.
New Tab Bar at the bottom of your screen for quick navigation.

The new buttons include:
- Prayers: This button brings you to the list of prayers for today. If you select a different date, it will take you to the list of prayers for the selected day.
- Community: Access discussions, intercessory prayers, and reflections, and contribute your own.
- Globe: Enter fullscreen mode to explore the 3D globe, zoom in and out, and see where others are praying with you.
- Donate: Quickly support our ministry with a single click, whether it’s a one-time gift or a recurring donation.
- Join/Login: If you’re not logged in, easily join our community or log in to your existing account.
- Profile/Theme: If logged in, access your profile, customize your experience, and adjust your settings. Toggle between light and dark mode with a single button.
- More: Explore additional sections, including prayers for different dates, the Office of the Dead, our blog, and more.
A Redesigned Profile Section
We’ve improved the Profile section to make it easier to manage your preferences:

The new Website Preferences section allows to:
- Adjust the quality of our 3D globe to improve performance or disable it entirely if you prefer.
- Save your color scheme, font size, and playback speed settings so you don’t need to reset them each time you visit.
- Review and change your location sharing preferences.
Email notification preferences now have their own section for easier access and control.
These updates were made with our community in mind and the shared faith that binds us together. We remember and are grateful to our contributors and to all that have aided our efforts to rekindle and promote the ancient tradition of praying the Liturgy of the Hours. If you too feel called to support our work, and it’s not a burden, you can donate here.
Stay close for more news and updates. And let us continue to pray together, support one another, and spread the light of Divine Office to every corner of the globe
With gratitude,
The Divine Office Team

The eyes of the world are once again turned to Rome, where the 2025 Conclave has begun. As the doors of the Sistine Chapel closed and the words “Extra omnes” (“Everyone out!”) echoed through the sacred space, the Cardinal electors entered into one of the most solemn and prayerful tasks of their vocation: to discern, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, who will be the next successor to St. Peter. Pray anywhere
I have prayed the Divine Office for many years. [...] When I discovered this app, all of my concerns of ribbon placement were gone. Having the Divine Office on my phone is absolutely the best thing ever! The sense of community is so wonderful as I see how many others are praying at the same time as myself. [...] Now I don’t need to turn a lamp on as I use to when I used the Office printed volumes. It is such a blessing to have the Divine Office in my pocket. Many times I’ve been sitting in a doctor’s waiting room at the time of Mid Morning prayer. It is so calming of any worries to pull out my phone, open the app, and be able to connect with Our Lord at those times I need Him most. I don’t use the audio version much but the few times I’ve traveled, it is so comforting to not have to skip the Office in order to keep my hands on the steering wheel and my eyes in the road. I recommend this app to friends all the time, especially to those who’d like to pray the Office but feel intimidated by the size of the printed version and getting the ribbons placed properly. Thank you for developing this app. It is my constant companion.

Super helpful
I have only been introduced to the divine office prayers two times before I downloaded this app. It is laid out in a way that is very easy to understand, and there is an audio option that will say all of the prayers. There is an option to set reminders throughout the day. I got this because, I didn’t really know how to say the divine office, and I didn’t know what prayer books I needed to purchase to begin. During the shutting down of churches for covid :( this has been a wonderful resource. One cool feature is that you can tap on the “in prayer” link and see little specks of light around the globe lighting up in the area that someone else is praying. It’s so cool to see everyone praying with you and is a powerful reminder that we are all connected and unified in Christ’s mystical body.

Praying with the whole Church
I love this app! Since it is now free and no longer for sale, I made sure to donate the price of buying it, and then some. I have loved the Liturgy of the Hours for 25 years. But I always felt alone when I prayed it. With this app, I am connected to others! I use it in conjunction with my printed Christian Prayer volume. On other days, I cannot get to my book but with the app, I always have the prayers available. I have the printed calendar with my book, but I actually rely on this more for placing my ribbons. The audio is wonderful!! I often read out loud with it. I love that I can change the speed of the audio! I have found that 1.3 is good for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this app. Thank you for still supporting it. Thank you for updating the “one God,” to just “God” change in the prayers. My book still throws me off but your app is right! Highly recommend this. Many friends have it. THANK YOU!!

May I please post 2 criticisms without backlash? There are just a couple things I really want to comment on. First, it would be really helpful if you would update your control feature at the top, the one with the play/pause buttons, speed, etc. Sometimes I come back to finish a prayer when i get interrupted and the site closed, so it starts from the beginning, or sometimes I need to skip the hymn. This is impossible to do with the kind of buttons you have. If I drag the dot over the line to go forward, it launches me several minutes forward, same if I go back. It does not let me choose the time I want to start. For instance on you tube when you hold the dot down and move it, it shows you the time as you fast forward. Yours does not. Also markers between psalms, readings, etc would be helpful when trying to find a specific place (also a feature on you tube, if you aren’t sure what I mean. Please I beg you, add these features. My other criticism is about the singing.Lent was such a blessed time because I had rest from the singing. Today (easter monday) was so hard to listen to. Your vibrato is so overpowering, when the psalms finally ended I felt like I’d been shaken by the shoulders. Traditionally, cantor use straight clear tone to high light the words, not the voice. Also, whoever wrote the notes went over the top today. The notes went up and down and all over, sounded like Christina Aguilera singing the national anthem. Nobody could ever sing/pray along to that. It didnt make musical sense. It was all so random.Keep it simple, in notes and in singing.
Thank you for the suggestions Molly! I work on the development of the website so I’ll reply only to these aspects of your comment.
I just tested on Safari and Chrome and the player allows to scroll through the audio to a specific time. The only thing you need to do to unlock this is to click once on the “play” button. This limitation is due to the fact that until you click on play, the audio does not load. Once you click on “play” the first time, the whole audio is loaded for you and you can:
— hover the player and click once to go to a specific time
— drag the dot to a specific point in time and release
Depending on your browser, you may need to press play again once you do that.
Please let me know if this works for you!
The markers on the player bar would be an awesome addition and we have discussed this internally before. Unfortunately adding this feature with our current technology would be a huge undertaking (it requires manual editing and entry on each audio file). We are looking into this as a feature for the next version of our core technology that is currently in the works.
I am so grateful for this Divine Office site. Many years ago our Spiritual Advisor and head of the Legion of Mary in Baton Rouge, LA, encouraged us to try to incorporate this into our daily lives. Most of us had very small children and I personally, couldn’t figure it out and gave up quickly. Now that my children are all grown and I have grandchildren, I finally have quiet time to think it through. This app really simplifies things for me. I love how it’s always improving. Looks like now I can listen to the Divine Office while I go walking outside, which is my favorite place to meet Christ. Grateful to connect with others in prayer. Thank you Jesus, for this great gift.
Our deacon introduced this Liturgy of the Hours. I searched it and here I am. I started this morning even without logging in by just using the app. At first, it looked pretty long but with hymns and beautiful prayer and with the gospel reading, I felt really good to start my day. I long to be with my Lord, to have the Lord be in me- thinking, talking, walking, working, loving, hoping and even hurting in me and for me. This makes my day and with a good start like this, I feel assured that I will be able to do everything as God wills it-to do His will.Thank you for this site and app. I love it. Blessings to all!!!
I am isolated. I love looking at the globe and noting all of the others praying with me. Then I realize anew that I am never truly alone.
It reminds me of when Elijah thought he was all alone and on the run and God told him that he had 7000 more of his own that Elijah didn’t even know about. I Kings 19.
Thank you for your work. I love the globe and seeing the number of people posted who are praying at any given time. I actually joined this site because a local priest died after serving for 51 years. I had been told that if you do the things someone liked to do it will make you feel close to them. I had been told that this priest liked to say the Divine Office.
Thank you for making these updates. I am thankful for this resource as it is such a help to my prayer.God Bless everyone involved in providing this valuable resource and God Bless all who gather here.
I enjoy the Devine Office using it for a few years now. I look forward to any updates available and also looking forward to be able to share this in Spanish with my father in law very soon. Many blessings to the Devine Office Team.
God Bless Each and Every One who is involved in this Ministry and So Dedicated to improving and increasing Our Prayer and Our Faith ! I rely on this site and have been part of the Prayer Life we share for Many Years! God Bless Also All Those who enter this Sacred Space to Pray Together!!!
